Campus Ambassador - Friends of the Pond Campaign
A Village Without Water. A Community Fighting for Change.
In Govardhanpura- a village in Alwar, Rajasthan, families wake up every morning uncertain if they will have enough water to make it through the day. The wells are dry, the handpumps barely work, and women walk 5 kilometers every day just to fetch a few pots of water.
Farmers watch their once-cultivable land crack under the sun, unable to grow food. Children skip school to help their mothers collect water. Some families have already left because without water, they have no choice but to migrate.
But we have a solution that works—and YOU can be a part of it.
A POND (Johad) to Bring Water and Life back
A Johad In Govardhanpura can store nearly 9 lakh liters of water, recharge 9 wells and 2 handpumps, and ensure 325 families have access to water. It has the power to bring back lost livelihoods, revive dried-up land, and make migration a choice, not a necessity.A Johad can store nearly 9 lakh liters of water, recharge 9 wells and 2 handpumps, and ensure 325 families have access to water. WE HAVE DONE IT BEFORE!
In Keetla and Kakrali Rampura, villages just like Govardhanpura, we built Johads—and within months: Wells and handpumps started flowing again. Farmers could grow crops again, securing their incomes. Families that had left returned home because water had returned.
Now, Govardhanpura is waiting for its turn.
This Is Where You Come In
Through the "Friends of the Pond” campaign, we aim to rais ₹1,00,000 to build this Johad in Govardhanpura Village before the summer heat makes construction impossible.
